Bear in mind that once the original ticket is past the expiration date, no new changes can be made to the exchanged one.
What Is JetBlue’s Cancelation Policy?
Here are the key things you need to know about JetBlue’s cancelation policy:
- You can cancel your flight ticket within 24 hours of the date of purchase (provided that you booked the travel seven or more days before the scheduled departure date) and not be charged with the cancelation fee (regardless of the type of ticket purchased)
- Bookings that have undergone some changes are not eligible for a refund to the original form of payment and can incur a per-person cancelation fee, regardless of being within 24 hours of the original booking
- In case the ticket is canceled outside of one business day, you will be charged with the penalty fee
- The cancelation of the flight tickets is meant for flight credit only. This is valid within one year from cancelation

What if JetBlue Canceled Your Flight?
If JetBlue cancels your flight for any reason (bad weather, mechanical issues, safety issues, etc.), you will have the following options provided that you have a confirmed reservation at the moment of cancelation,:
- Receive a JetBlue Travel Bank credit
- Travel on the next available JetBlue flight at no additional charge
- Get a refund to the original form of payment if your flight cannot be rebooked within two hours
If your flight was canceled within four hours of scheduled departure time, you are eligible for compensation under JetBlue’s Customer Bill of Rights.
What Is the JetBlue Ticket Refund Policy?
According to JetBlue’s Change & Cancelation Policy, “For JetBlue refundable fares, a full refund is permitted only if the flights were canceled from the Passenger Name Record (PNR) prior to scheduled departure. Refunds must be processed following industry-standard guidelines through ARC or BSP.
Flights not canceled prior to scheduled departure are not eligible for a refund and tickets must remain in OPEN status available for future use. Tickets are valid one year from the original ticket issuance date.”
There are certain exceptions to JetBlue’s standard refund policy, and they include:
- Mosaic membership (except for Blue Basic fares)
- Military-related events
How Long Do JetBlue Refunds Take?
JetBlue aims to provide credit card refunds, cash, or check refunds within 20 days upon receiving the customer’s request. Please note that it could take a little bit longer for the money to show up in your bank account, which will depend on your card issuer.
